This Wiltshire company provides smart-card systems for bus and train travel, tourism, and retailers’ loyalty programmes. Its customers include the Welsh Assembly, the British Museum and Oxford Bus Company. Chief executive Gary Watts has seen sales rise 59% a year, from £1.3m in 2007 to £5.3m in 2010, driven by growth in ACT’s transport ticketing business. It plans to continue expanding in north America, where it provides tourist city cards for Las Vegas. This year ACT merged with Squid, another smart-card firm.
