Founded in Cheshire in 1949, APS now produces 500m tomatoes a year from five sites in Britain and supplies supermarkets including Tesco, Aldi and Waitrose. The acquisition of Wight Salads from Vitacress helped profits treble to £3.3m in 2015 and it followed up the deal last year by snapping up Teesside-based North Bank Growers for an undisclosed sum. APS is led by Mark Pearson, 43, grandson of the founder.
