Founded in 1885 by Belarussian immigrant Barnett Berwin, this Leeds firm has since become one of Europe’s largest suit makers, producing more than 24,000 garments a week at its factories in Hungary, China and Vietnam. Its brands include Lambretta and Daniel Hechter – which hail from Milan and Paris respectively – and the suits are sold to retailers in Europe and North America. Under managing director Simon Berwin, 61, exports hit £23m in 2014.
