Scotland’s largest independent brewery raised £19m from a crowdfunding appeal in the UK in April, followed in August by the launch of a £50m appeal in the US. Now with 53,000 investors worldwide, its brewhouse in Columbus, Ohio, is expected to come on stream early next year. BrewDog has also opened nearly 50 bars as far afield as Brazil and Japan, and it exports beer, including its Punk IPA, to more than 60 countries. Sales topped £44.7m last year, under the co-founders James Watt and Martin Dickie, both 34. It has featured on Fast Track 100 for a record five consecutive years.
