Submitting a drug for approval requires an enormous amount of documentation. Every detail of the development and trial must be recorded, sometimes creating documents of more than a million pages. CDC develops software that helps a company such as Glaxo Smith Kline to manage the workflow and automate the production of such vast documents. The company was founded in 1994 and is backed by the venture-capital firms 3i and Quester. Although the company made a loss, its sales have grown 57% a year from £3m in 2000 to £7.5m in 2002.
