Sybil Harriman founded Childrensalon in 1952 as a single store in Tunbridge Wells selling handmade children’s clothes. It has grown to become a global online retailer, stocking childrenswear from 270 brands, including Gucci and Dolce & Gabbana. The business is led by the founder’s daughter, Michele Harriman-Smith, 65, and her husband George Smith, 69. A surge in sales of traditional styles, after the births of Prince George and Princess Charlotte, helped exports hit £52.5m last year.
