Comtact

After remortgaging his flat and selling his car, chief executive Dominic List founded Comtact in 2005. The company provides services such as hosted applications and disaster recovery—if a crisis strikes a client company, it can be up and running again in as little as one hour. In May the business moved into a new data centre in Northampton, expanding its capacity, and it plans to broaden its international scope, particularly in north America and continental Europe. With clients such as Royal Bank of Scotland, Axa and Sage, sales rose 65% a year from £1.5m in 2007 to £6.8m in 2010.
