The distinctive Dr Martens boot has been associated with a spirit of rebellion ever since it was launched in 1960 by the Griggs family, bootmakers in Northampton. Dr Martens now has 14 stores in the UK and 40 overseas and sells to customers in 65 countries. Chief executive David Suddens, 66, has led the revival of the company, which now also sells clothing and fashion accessories.
