Founded by Sir James Dyson, this manufacturer of bagless vacuum cleaners, bladeless fans and, more recently, hairdryers plans to invest £1bn in longer-lasting battery technology over the next five years. In 2015, the Wiltshire firm achieved a 22% increase in sales to £1.7bn, having sold 10m machines, launched 17 new products and tripled revenues in China. Asia has overtaken Europe to become its largest market. Last week, Dyson opened its first store, in London, to demonstrate the science behind its products. Max Conze, 46, is Dyson’s chief executive.
