Edinburgh’s FanDuel hosts online fantasy sports games, including football, baseball and basketball. Fans win cash prizes based on the performance of the real-life players selected for their team. Chief executive Nigel Eccles, 41, co-founded the business in 2009. Since then he has raised almost £250m from investors including KKR and Google Capital and lifted annualised sales to £37.5m in 2015. FanDuel and its competitors in America are facing legal challenges alleging they run gambling rather than games of skill.
