London-based Farfetch is a global online shop for luxury fashion brands reluctant to appear on Amazon or Alibaba. It was founded by Portuguese entrepreneur Jose Neves, 42, in 2008, and more than 400 independent fashion boutiques now use it to sell their wares. It has raised over £200m from investors including Advent Venture Partners and Condé Nast International. Farfetch acquired London boutique Browns in 2015, when total sales — the value of goods sold through the site — rose to £335.1m. A quarter of that is understood to be its fees.
