The difficulties of arranging a trip to the Coachella festival in California inspired friends Zach Sabban, 33, and Jonathan Younes, 33, to start this business in 2012. It has since secured £10.3m from investors such as Lepe Partners, PROfounders Capital and Wellington Partners to develop its online platform. Festicket sells tickets and packages to more than 1,000 festivals worldwide and recently reached the mark of 1m customers. Last year the company opened offices in Germany, Portugal and Holland, and partnered with Eventbrite. Turnover — which represents gross booking value — reached £35.8m and its gross profit margin was 10%.
