In 2011, friends Tom Barton, 30, and Philip Eeles, 33, were joined by experienced restaurateur Dorian Waite, 49, to help turn their pop-up fast-food stand into an upmarket burger chain. The business has capitalised on demand for “posh burgers”, with a simple menu displayed on a blackboard, and high-quality ingredients. Last year, the London-based company secured a reported £7m investment from Active Private Equity. Sales reached an annualised £10.1m this year, after the chain expanded to 16 sites across London, including restaurants in Peckham, Tooting and Camden.
