The London-based drugs importer appeared in last year’s Fast Track 100 league table at 32nd place and reappears this year courtesy of annual sales growth of 102%. The company was founded by Harshadrai Patel in 1994 when he sold the chain of pharmacies he owned in Liverpool and used the cash to begin importing drugs in bulk from the Continent. Interport repackages the drugs and sells them on to British wholesalers. The company, which has been able to take advantage of relationships Patel built up while running his pharmacies, has driven up sales from £2.1m in 1996 to £17.2m in 1999.
