After training as a digital artist and graphic designer, Andrew Crane founded Inweb Networks in 1995. He originally intended Inweb to be a web design firm, but with the award of a telecoms licence in 2000, the company changed tack. Inweb has developed a synthetic voice program that converts e-mails into speech so they can be listened to over a phone line. It also offers bespoke internet and telephony services to customers such as BT and AOL Time Warner. Sales have grown 94% a year from £640,000 in 2000 to £2.4m in 2002.
