The software this company makes protects 300m individuals and businesses worldwide against IT security threats. Trained cryptologist Eugene Kaspersky founded the business in Moscow 14 years ago. It still has its headquarters in the city but in 2007 the holding company was registered in Britain to help with plans for international expansion. Kaspersky Lab now has offices in 29 countries, and in January General Atlantic bought out a co-founder, acquiring a 20% stake for a reported £126m. Sales rose 69% a year from £62.5m in 2007 to £299.1m in 2010.
