Set up in 1964 by Alan Rayner to sell freezer bags from his Windermere garage, the range of this mail-order kitchenware company now comprises over 4,000 articles, from cleaning products to garden equipment. Goods are sold online and from 79 stores, including seven in the Middle East and three in India. In January next year, former BP retail director Catherine Nunn, 46, will take over as chief executive from Sam Rayner, 63, the founder’s son, who will become chairman.
