Plumbers, decorators and yoga teachers were all early users of handheld payment terminals, technology developed by High Wycombe-based Miura and launched in 2011. Under chief executive Ian Rutland, 52, international sales reached £14m last year, boosted by partnerships with the likes of PayPal and iZettle. Its largest market is Europe, where the volume of chip and PIN transactions is high, but future growth is expected in the US and Asia Pacific region as contactless payments increase in popularity.
