Music industry veteran Brad Aspess, 61 — who owns more than 100,000 vinyl records — noticed a gap in the market for selling music memorabilia online and launched Rarewaves in 2005. Its range of 500,000 products includes music, video games, books and ink cartridges, which it sells on marketplaces such as Amazon, eBay and France’s Fnac. A weak pound and US expansion helped international sales reach £14.7m last year.
