Founded by managing director Glenn Elliott in 2006, Asperity Employee Benefits raised £25.5m last December from the private equity firm Inflexion, which took a 60% stake in the company. The London business provides employee benefit schemes to clients that include American Express, ITV and AOL. Their employees can log on to a web portal and select rewards such as retail discounts or childcare vouchers. Asperity makes most of its money from annual fees paid by employers, and also makes a profit on some benefits that are provided to employees, such as cycle-to-work schemes. Sales, which include the value of all benefits, soared 267% a year from £1.7m in 2008 to £81.4m in 2011.
