Skrill claims 20m people use its service when shopping online. Founded in 2001 as Moneybookers, the company allows anyone with an email address to send and receive payments securely, and eBay, Skype and Facebook are among the 100,000 merchants that offer it as a payment option. Investcorp took a 51% stake in 2007 when it backed a €105m buyout. The company is led by joint chief executives Martin Ott and Nikolai Riesenkampff who had hoped to float it earlier this year but had to postpone because of market jitters. Sales grew 65% a year, from £12.8m in 2007 to £57m in 2010.
