The Specialist Works

The Specialist Works was launched in 2002 as a niche producer of magazine inserts and leaflets, but it has expanded to offer TV production, print advertising and customer insight. Founder Jim Lewcock, 40, started the firm with funds that he obtained by selling a Peugeot he won from his former employer IPC Media for being salesman of the year. Since then, his London company has worked with 250 clients, including Ocado and Virgin Media, and now places and prints 2.3bn leaflets a year. It credits its growth to innovative distribution methods, such as placing inserts in packages sent out by Amazon.
