The maker of some of Britain’s favourite snacks such as Jaffa Cakes, Twiglets, McVitie’s Digestives and Penguins, United Biscuits reckons it is Britain’s biggest biscuit manufacturer and No 2 in Belgium, France, the Netherlands and Ireland. Blackstone and PAI Partners, which bought the company for £1.6 billion in 2006, failed in their attempts to sell it for a reported £2 billion last year. They have since reshuffled the management, promoting Benoit Testard to the position of chief executive, with David Fish moving to non-executive chairman. Sales reached £1,268m in 2010.
