Vital Energi designed and installed the combined heating, cooling and power system for the Natural History Museum in London, a landmark project that claims to have saved £11m and 15,000 tons of CO2 in its first decade of operation. Founded in 2000 by managing director Gary Fielding, 61, this Blackburn-based business provides energy efficient power and heating systems for public and private sector clients. Profits trebled to £6.3m last year, thanks to large projects such as the new biomass plant at St Andrews University.
