Vue International has been pursuing a buy and build strategy to become Europe’s largest cinema group. It is backed by Canadian pension funds AIMCo and OMERS, and since 2012 has acquired Apollo Cinemas, CinemaxX, Multikino and Space Cinemas. Its latest purchase, the Dutch chain JT Bioscopen bought for £62m last August, takes its string of multiplexes to 209 across 10 countries. Under chief executive Tim Richards, 57, overseas sales reached £378.1m in 2015.
