Although this family firm has been milling flour since 1886, it has also been at the forefront of new milling and heat-treatment technology, and in 2014 opened a £1.2m quality and innovation centre at its Northamptonshire headquarters. Led by chairman Martin George, 74, the business acquired Carr’s Flour Mills last year in a deal worth £24m, adding the reach of milling centres in Cumbria, Essex and Fife.
