Y International’s £20m distribution centre in Birmingham exports British foods, paper goods and toiletries. Set up in 2012 by the Indian billionaire Yusuff Ali, 62, it supplies his LuLu group of 155 supermarkets and malls in the Middle East — where it is the top grocery retailer — as well as outlets in India, Malaysia, Indonesia and Egypt. Exports grew to £23.6m in 2017. It is investing £36m to expand its premises and start supplying other retailers.
