Zen says it was one of the first internet service providers in Britain when it set up in 1995. It now supplies ADSL broadband to 20,000 business and residential users across the country. Its customers include IBM UK and Tottenham Hotspur Football Club. The Rochdale company was launched by Richard Tang after a chat in a pub with his brother who convinced him that the internet was going to be a hit. Zen’s sales have grown 84% a year from £1m in 2000 to £3.5m in 2002.
