2006 Fast Track 100

Rank: 2   Kew Green Hotels

Acquired 11 hotels from Whitbread for £80m in December 2004

Kew Green Hotels started out by offering business travellers a room and breakfast in six hotels branded Express by Holiday Inn and Days Hotel. More recently, it has added 11 Courtyard by Marriott hotels, which, with their banqueting and conference facilities, have taken it into the full-service market for the first time. The next, due to open in the spring, will be a fully-fledged Holiday Inn in Norwich. Set up by two former Welcome Break colleagues, Paul Johnson and Jeremy Richardson, Kew Green is backed and partly owned by Bank of Scotland Corporate and Moorfield Group, a specialist property finance group. The company's sales soared 256% a year from an annualised £759,000 in 2003 to £34.2m in 2006.
