Cuts and polishes diamonds worn by celebrities such as Oprah Winfrey

This company's operation is as polished as the 137-carat diamonds it sets. Buying raw gemstones direct from mines, it cuts and polishes them in its five factories worldwide, and creates handmade jewellery at its London workshop. Chairman Laurence Graff started out as a jewellery apprentice in London in the 1950s and is now estimated to be worth about £750m. Foreign expansion, including new stores in America and franchises in east Europe and the Middle East, have increased the company's profits 55% a year from £7.8m in 2001 to £29.1m in 2004.
