Named after a Val d'Isere black ski run, Le Face

Life is out there! is the slogan of the active-lifestyle brand Fat Face. Targeting sporty 25-45-year-olds has reaped rewards for the Hampshire company, whose founders Jules Leaver and Tim Slade started selling T-shirts in the French Alps to fund their skiing lifestyle. Named after Le Face, a Val d'Isere black run, the company's clothing is now sold from 125 shops in Britain, plus franchises in Dubai and Reykjavik. In March, Bridgepoint Capital backed a £360m buyout led by chief executive Louise Barnes. Profits have risen 62% a year from £3.4m in 2003 to £14.3m in 2006.
