Markets toys for Ninja Turtles, Spiderman and Lord of the Rings
This firm develops and markets toys, often in association with hit films and television shows such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Tractor Tom, Spiderman and Lord of the Rings. In April 1998 Jordans, the American venture-capital firm, invested £25m in return for an 80% stake, but in December 2002 co-founders Nick Austin and Alan Bennie led a buyout with £62m backing from Phoenix Equity Partners. Last year Vivid announced a partnership with the American company MGA Entertainment to market its Bratz fashion dolls in Britain. Vivid's profits have grown 51% a year from £2.9m in 1999 to £9.9m in 2002.
