2012 Tech Track 100
Rank: 34 XConnect
Signed a four-year deal with DE-CIX, the world's biggest internet exchange
A high level of interconnection is needed for telecommunication services, such as high-definition voice and video, to work between different networks. By giving each phone number its own internet protocol address, XConnect solves the problem of network incompatibility, which would otherwise limit communication. In the last year this London company has signed a four-year deal with Germany-based DE-CIX, the world’s biggest internet exchange. Growing demand for cross-network services helped sales grow 82% a year from £1.5m in 2008 to £9.3m in 2011, under founder Eli Katz.
