Rank: 38   Supermassive Games

Nominated in 2011 for a Develop Excellence award as best new European studio

Start The Party! and Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock are the best-known releases from Guildford games developer Supermassive. Founded in 2007 by brothers Pete and Joe Samuels, it started by making family-friendly games for Sony for the launch of Playstation 3's Move controller. The company still develops exclusively for Sony, and sales have grown as it has won more projects, including producing downloadable content for Little Big Planet. Sales grew 76% a year from £1m in 2008 to £5.7m in 2011, and it is now also developing games with more mature themes.
