Rank: 20   Omnifone

Entering Japan with Sony this year, and targeting growth in India and China

Omnifone provides cloud-based digital music services that get 22million music tracks into smartphones, games consoles, cars and TVs. Founders Rob Lewis, Mark Knight and Phil Sant started the company in 2003 to develop software for the nascent online music market. Now, its MusicStation platform is the basis of services offered in 28 countries by companies including Sony, RIM and rara.com. International growth and winning new customers helped sales grow 106% a year, from £3.3m in 2009 to £29.3m in 2012, with further growth expected as subscription music services gain popularity.
