Brad Aspess had the idea for Rarewaves after selling some of his 100,000 vinyl records on eBay, and launched the venture in 2005. Rarewaves sells products including CDs, DVDs, games and accessories for 100 suppliers including Universal, Warner Music and BBC arm 2entertain, via sites such as Amazon. The company has developed bespoke back-end software to manage its orders, which has enabled it to increase the number of product lines it sells to 155,000, and grow overseas. Sales rose 113% a year from £661,000 in 2008 to £6.4m in 2011.
