Mobile software developer Orca Digital has contracts with most major mobile networks, including O2 and Vodafone, to provide its main product: voice shortcodes that let callers make free 0800 calls from mobile phones. It also operates a media unit that produces interactive mobile and tablet entertainment for television networks like Channel 4 and Sky. Founder Will Neale started Orca Digital in 2006, having previously worked at consultancy Accenture, and is now focused on growing the business in the US. Sales grew 84% a year, from £812,000 in 2008 to £5m in 2011.
