Has built a hybrid fibre optic and wireless network for UK businesses

Manchester firm Metronet (UK) provides wireless internet services in Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool and Birmingham, with customers including Manchester City Council, Grant Thornton, Laing O'Rourke and others that rely on 24/7 connectivity. The company employs technicians around-the-clock and has network monitoring to resolve issues as they arise, and often before customers are aware of them. Chief executive Elliott Mueller attributes growth to word-of-mouth recommendations and by keeping technical support in-house. Sales increased 43% a year from £2m in 2009 to £5.9m in 2012. In June, private equity firm LDC bought a majority stake in the company for £11m.
