Sells software that can monitor staff absenteeism and sentiments in social media

Edinburgh company Barrachd sells bespoke software that help customers track key business issues, from staff absenteeism to sentiments in social media. Founded by Clark Wilson, Graeme Cassie and Grant Smith in 2007 as an IBM reseller, the company branched out following the acquisition of an analytics specialist in 2009. Customers include businesses, councils and colleges, and the firm is now turning its attention to England. A gap in the market for business analytics and strong customer retention has helped sales grow 93% a year, from £861,000 in 2009 to £6.2m in 2012.
