2012 Tech Track 100

Rank: 12   Ubiquisys

Has sold nearly 1m of its mobile phone network boosters

Mobile phone operators are under pressure to provide more data on their networks, and Swindon firm Ubiquisys helps them. Its ‘small cell’ technology lets networks boost their data capacity in enclosed spaces where they have limited reach, including homes and airports. Its small cells are deployed in networks across the world, including 3 and Everything Everywhere in the UK. Under chief executive Chris Gilbert, smartphones' increasing popularity helped sales grow 152% a year from £881,000 in 2008 to £14.1m in 2011. The company's backers include Accel Partners, Advent Venture, Atlas Venture, and T-Mobile Venture.
