Fast Track is a leading research and events company that has created a network of the UK’s top private companies through our rankings in The Sunday Times.
We publish seven annual league tables and bring the founders and directors together at our invitation-only networking awards events and alumni dinners, supported by our sponsors.
Fast Track was founded in 1997 by CEO Hamish Stevenson with The Sunday Times as media partner. He secured sponsorship from Sir Richard Branson for his research fellowship in entrepreneurship at Oxford University, where he completed his doctorate and remains an associate fellow. With the help of lots of people, entrepreneurs and sponsors, Fast Track has developed into the thriving network it is today.
Our first Fast Track 100 league table of the fastest-growing sales featured ARM Holdings with sales of just £17m, which sold to SoftBank for £24.4bn in 2016. Our other private company league tables rank the UK’s fastest-growing tech firms, companies with the fastest-growing sales, profits and international sales; and we also rank the leading mid-market companies and those with the biggest sales.
Over 23 years, more than 5,400 companies have featured on our league tables. They include nearly half of the UK’s c2,500 private companies with operating profits of over £3m, and almost all private companies with profits over £50m or sales over £250m.
Over 10,000 entrepreneurs and directors have attended our invitation-only networking awards and alumni dinners, including our annual flagship Fast Track 100 event co-hosted by Sir Richard Branson. Many continue to attend our alumni dinners and speak at our events.
Speakers range from Boris Johnson, David Cameron and Gordon Brown to Nasa Astronaut Mark Kelly, Niklas Zennström of Skype and Sir Martin Sorrell. Most speakers are from our league tables, including Sir James Dyson, Sir Charles Dunstone, Dame Mary Perkins of Specsavers, Rich Reed of innocent, Charles Rolls of Fever-Tree and Gareth Williams of Skyscanner.
