As energy prices soar, Dell and the Office of Government Commerce are among the growing number of organisations turning to 1E’s Nightwatchman energy-saving software, which automatically installs software updates at night and shuts off unattended computers. The London firm’s other core product, System Forge, helps companies cut their number of servers. Chief executive Sumir Karayi, who founded the firm in 1997, also counts Nestlé and Verizon among the company’s 1,000 customers. Sales have grown 44% a year from £3.7m in 2004 to £11m in 2007.
