20:20 Mobile Group

The biggest mobile-phone distributor in Britain, 20:20 Mobile Group sells handsets and accessories, and provides services to 8,000 customers, including network operators, retailers and dealers. The Crewe business is also licensed by the Financial Services Authority as an insurance intermediary and has operations in 15 countries across Europe and the Middle East, employing a total of 1,250 people. The company was formed in 2006 when the private-equity firm Doughty Hanson backed a £347m buyout from the Caudwell Group. Under chief executive Meinie Oldersma, sales reached £1.2 billion in 2012.
