Growth at this Doncaster firm has come from its expansion into the wholesale distribution of plumbing and heating products, having started out importing and repackaging them for retail customers. Founder and chief executive Peter Holling has also reduced the company’s reliance on its biggest customer, B&Q. The DIY giant once accounted for 90% of sales, but new contracts with builders’ merchants and MFI in particular have reduced that figure to 50%. Sales have grown 161% a year from £1.2m in 2003 to £21.4m in 2006.
