Dee Thaya, 43, and his wife Bhavani, 42, founded Abra Wholesale in 2003 as a cash and carry business. The company now trades groceries, toiletries, tobacco and licensed goods from two warehouses covering a total of 150,000 sq ft. It nearly doubled its floor space in the summer when it added a second warehouse in Luton to its existing site in north London. Sales reached £49.6m this year as the company boosted exports to supermarkets, independents and wholesalers in West African countries such as Nigeria and Ghana, as well as to the Middle East, Greece and Malta.
