The frustration of having no idea when the next bus will arrive has been banished at bus stops as far afield as Holland and Qatar, thanks to software developed by Acis. The company, which supplies 52 British local councils, uses satellite positioning technology to track vehicles and beam arrival information to bus stops and even passengers’ mobile phones. Based at Loudwater in Buckinghamshire and led by chief executive Ian Buckley, the firm has raised its sales 42% a year from £7.3m in 2003 to £14.9m in 2005.
