Actix develops software that helps eliminate the loss of signal to mobile phones, and helps operators check their networks. The company was founded by Rob Dobson in 1991 and claims that its software is used in 60 countries by 200 mobile operators and systems vendors – 95% of its sales come from outside Britain. At present the company is helping Reliance, the largest operator in India, cope with the rapidly expanding Indian market, which is gaining a million new subscribers each month. Actix’s sales have grown 78% a year from £2.8m in 2000 to £8.9m in 2002.
