Actix develops software that helps eliminate the loss of signal to mobile phones, and helps operators boost the performance of their networks. The London company was founded by Rob Dobson in 1991 and claims that its software is used in 60 countries by 200 mobile operators and systems vendors – 95% of its sales come from outside Britain. Actix is helping many international mobile operators handle the influx of new customers. They include China Mobile and China Unicom, which have more than 250m subscribers. Actix’s sales have grown nearly 102% a year from £1.1m in 1999 to £8.9m in 2002.
