Acturis was founded by the former chairman of Lloyds TSB, Sir Brian Pitman, together with former McKinsey partners David McDonald and Theo Duchen. The London company provides a hosted software service that automates administrative tasks and trading for the general insurance industry, to improve efficiency and customer service. Its clients include brokers, banks and insurance companies, such as Aviva and Allianz. The first brokers started trading on the system in 2002, and last year sales at Acturis climbed to £10.6m, up 47% a year from £3.4m in 2005.
