Run by American entrepreneur Tyler Moebius, London-based Adconion sells online advertising space to its customers, most of which are advertising agencies. The company raised £40m in 2008 from a consortium led by Index Ventures, and in May 2011 announced a £21m financing package from Silicon Valley Bank. Adconion’s acquisitions include smartclip, a digital video advertising agency, in November 2011, and some of the assets of online video service Joost, bought in 2009. These acquisitions and organic growth boosted sales 48% a year, from £54.4m in 2008 to £176.2m in 2011.
